EfistO - Efficiency increases for production systems through the use of stochastic optimization

The EfistO research project (German acronym for „Effizienzsteigerung von Produktionssystemen durch stochastische Optimierung“ – Efficiency increases for production systems through the use of stochastic optimization) aims to evaluate production systems at early stages with regards to their performance capability throughout their life cycle and to generate actions paths for their improvement.
On the basis of a an analytical model of a planned or existing production system including material flow and cost models, a stochastic and dynamic optimization is carried out by means of OR methods. This allows the establishment of action paths for the improvement and the adaptation of the production system as the result of changing conditions in the environment or of uncertainties in the field of practice.
