In July 2023, the awarding of the Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Victor Prize took place at the wbk Institute of Production Engineering. Also this year, two students were awarded for their outstanding bachelor theses in production engineering:
Marie Hörner investigated in her thesis experimentally the tool wear and the surface quality during the milling of fiber reinforced plastics. Paul Schäfer was honored for his work on AI-supported analysis of the powder bed in the PBF-LB process for the detection of coating defects.
The prizes were presented by Prof. Volker Schulze, institute director at the wbk Institute for Production Technology of KIT.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Victor was institute director at the wbk from 1965 to 1980 and a pioneer of his time in the field of machining. His wife established a foundation - especially for students with outstanding achievements in the field of production engineering. The award comes with prize money to support the winners in their master's studies.
We warmly congratulate the award winners!
