Project Summary
The project's objective is to provide an integrated simulation environment for the analysis and
optimization of machine tools. The implementation follows a three-step-approach. First, the analysis of eigenfrequencies and frequency
responses and the optimization towards improving these properties; second, the coupling of a simplified model with a simulation-NC to
study the machine's behavior in controlled motion; third, simulations of machine movements in real time.
SimCAT is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) through the Project Management Agency for
Production and Manufacturing Technologies (PFT). Several machine tool manufacturers, component suppliers, engineering software companies
and research institutions are working together to achieve the project's goals.
