Functions:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gisela Lanza has been head of the Production Systems Department of the Institute of Production Science of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) since 2003. This department and its research associates mainly deal with the areas of global production strategies, production system planning and quality management in both research and teaching. From 2008-2011 she had been holding the Shared Professorship "Global Production Engineering and Quality" of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), which offered her the opportunity to work with Daimler AG in the Department of Strategy Planning. Since 2012 she holds the Professorship “Production System and Quality Management” at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is Head of the Institute of Production Science.
Areas of research:
- Process-oriented quality assurance and further development of quality management methods
- Ramp-up management and simulation based on quality capabilities of production processes
- Factory planning and production management in global value-added networks based on capabilities
- Life-Cycle-Performance-oriented planning and evaluation of technical systems and services
